Description

The Institute of Biomedical Engineering at UNB, in partnership with the Dr. J Herbert Smith Centre for Technology Management and Entrepreneurship, the NB Health Research Foundation, Health + Life Sciences New Brunswick and BioNB, would like to invite you to a networking event to help promote discussion, build partnerships and identify opportunities in the medical devices and technologies sector in New Brunswick.

The care of aging populations and chronic disease are major drivers for the exponential growth of the medical technologies industry. The need for cost reduction and innovation in healthcare, remote and continuous monitoring, and minimally invasive technologies is growing rapidly. Here, these needs are amplified by the largely rural population of our province. New Brunswick’s globally recognized excellence in ICT and rehabilitation, and its comprehensive network coverage offer unique opportunities for innovation in the development, testing, and implementation of such technologies.

There is significant growth potential in the intersection of the biosciences and ICT sectors that can be achieved by leveraging existing strengths, establishing strategic collaborations and linking researchers with industry. In this inaugural workshop, we will identify and discuss some of these opportunities through brainstorming and networking sessions.

Join Dr. John McLaughlin, Brian Neill, Dr. Keith Brunt, Irene Gaudet, Dr. Kevin Englehart, René Boudreau, Dr. Dhirendra Shukla and others, in conversation about:

  • The democratization of healthcare
  • Rehabilitation & mobility
  • Diagnostics & predictive analytics
  • Aging in place
  • MedTech NB: Capitalizing on new opportunities

Industry, academia, healthcare, government, and entrepreneurs are encouraged to come join in the discussion to help build the future of medical technologies and healthcare in New Brunswick.
